TIMP at the Medica 2006
As in 2005, TIMP was present at the Medica, the world’s biggest medical trade fair. The Dutch-German business network for medical product development, was one of the stops of Mr. Pinkwart, the North Rhine-Westphalian Minister for Innovation.
Stefan Adam, part of the German TIMP coordinator team, explained the Airdrive® system. It is an one-way transportation system for donor organs and developed by TIMP member INDES. The organ is kept cool during transportation and supplied with sufficient oxygen and nutrients. This means that it can still be transplanted up to 48 hours later. This is the first system that is suitable for all donor organs: kidneys, liver, heart, lungs and pancreas. Airdrive® greatly improves the condition in which the organs arrive after transportation and thus significantly increases the number of organs that are suitable for transplantation and, ultimately, the number of successful transplantations.
From Jüke Systemtechnik GmbH comes the prototype of a new method for appraising surfaces in the field of dentistry. This system helps to
- assess the smoothness of root surfaces in periodontal treatment and prophylaxis; assess dental and prosthodontic materials after mechanical / chemical processing
- assess marginal seals and bridges for prosthetic renewals
- perform a differentiated analysis of certain areas of the dentin surface in the field of caries identification and therapy.
The device was developed by Dr. Christian Willers and Dr. Huth-Fehre. Its functions are currently being further enhanced by several TIMP partners and it is also being prepared for serial production.
Besides the presentation of TIMP's competences, the members took the opportunity to meet with representatives from other other companies.
