University of Twente The University of Twente dedicates significant resources to both research and education in the field of biomedical engineering. Since September 1992 the activities on biomedical engineering at the University of Twente have been concentrated in the interdepartmental research institute BMTI (Institute for BioMedical Technology).

Complex-x is an interdisciplinary expert network. The coordination centre, located in Steinfurt, is part of the University of Applied Sciences in Muenster.

Tunstall GmbH, based in the Westphalian town of Telgte, is one of the world's leading providers of innovative communication systems in the following fields: (1) hospital communication, (2) emergency call systems in the house, (3) nusring homes and sheltered housing and (4) prisons.

About 80 people, many of them engineers and software developers, work at our site in Telgte to devise these innovative product solutions. Our  competence team can draw on over thirty years of experience in communication electronics.

It is a well equipped centre for ergonomics and usability including a simulation area for OR-, ICU- and dental care applications, which is nearly unique in Germany. The simulation rooms are video controlled and also provided by half mirrored windows to the observation- and control room. From over there, one can control and observe the whole scenario of testing a prototype or model.
