Pedeatric Interface

Pedeatric Interface

Philips Medical Systems supplies scanners for X-ray diagnostics world-wide. A patient is positioned on the scanner following which a diagnosis is made by means of X-rays. In order to obtain sharp X-rays of children, Indes has developed an interface for PMS which allows a number of existing accessories for the positioning of children to be placed on scanners. The accessories belonging to the PMS assortment did not fit new scanners and, moreover, the old clamping system was unsatisfactory. It was heavy, expensive, unsafe and cumbersome.

Success factors

Indes analysed the use of such systems and set the following project objective based on the results: fixing the interface on the scanner or the accessory on the interface must only require one action. When installed, the interface locks automatically. As a result, mistakes and unsafe situations are excluded. Unlocking is only possible with one extra action.

Not a single alteration to existing or supplied scanners and accessories was necessary for the design of the interface.
In addition to the design, PMS asked Indes to supply the complete product. Indes Specials handles production, assembly, acceptance inspection, documentation, packing and delivery. PMS carried out an audit at Indes in order to test the design process. Indes came through with flying colours!
